Located on wooded land, the project aims to create a charming and comfortable home nestled in the lush green of the forest. The exterior of the cottage is clad in natural wood siding that blends harmoniously with its surroundings. The pitched roof slopes steeply allowing rainwater and snow to slide off easily while adding a touch of rustic flair to the building.
In order to respond to the client's desire to occasionally rent out part of the cottage while keeping a small area for personal use, this ensemble consists of two small entities that can serve as separate living quarters. Connecting these structures is a shared spa area with a hot tub and sauna.
With a compact footprint, the cottage is an ideal retreat for a single person or couple. The upstairs space is open and efficiently used. The inner walls surfaces are finished with light-colored wood paneling that create a warm and inviting ambiance.
The main living area is the heart of the cottage, where the kitchen, dining and living spaces are seamlessly integrated. Large windows and a glass door provide abundant light and inspiring views of the forest. The kitchen is equipped with modern appliances, a farmhouse sink and butcher block countertop. The dining area contains a small table and chairs, while the living area is furnished with a comfortable sofa and armchairs arranged around a wood-burning stove. Compact but functional, the bathrooms are equipped with showers, sinks and toilets. The bathroom walls are tiled in soothing natural tones, adding to the bucolic atmosphere of the cottage. Each unit has a small veranda, perfect for serving morning coffee or enjoying an afternoon read.
Overall, the project is a charming and welcoming retreat, offering a peaceful and idyllic lifestyle in the midst of nature.
